Application of geotechnical materials in urban drainage systems
27 May,2025
In urban drainage systems, the application of geotechnical materials not only improves drainage efficiency, but also effectively enhances soil stability. With the acceleration of urbanization, traditional drainage methods can no longer meet the growing drainage needs. Therefore, the use of geotechnical materials such as geotextiles, geomembranes and geogrids has become an important means to improve drainage systems. Geotextiles have good water permeability and filtration, which can effectively prevent fine particles from entering the drainage system, thereby reducing the risk of siltation and blockage. Geomembranes can form an impermeable barrier in the drainage system to prevent groundwater infiltration, protect soil structure, and reduce soil erosion. In addition, the application of geogrids can enhance the bearing capacity of the soil, improve the stability of drainage pipes, and extend their service life. By reasonably selecting and arranging these geotechnical materials, the overall performance of the urban drainage system can be significantly improved, maintenance costs can be reduced, and a strong guarantee can be provided for the sustainable development of the city. Therefore, in future urban planning and construction, paying attention to the application of geotechnical materials will be the key to improving the efficiency and safety of drainage systems.
